Syrian Artist Bahjat Iskander Exhibition Opened in Budapest

BUDAPEST, (ST) _ The Hungarian Writers’ Union in Budapest hosted an exhibition for Syrian artist Bahjat Iskander, resident in the Hungarian city of Khkamit since 1967, including 35 paintings for most important writers and poets.

The exhibition, which was held under the title “my friends, the writers and poets” was opened in the presence of the President of the Hungarian Writers’ Union Cent Martoni Janos, and renowned poet and writer Malan Tibor,  who stressed in their speeches the importance of the creative works of artist Alexander and his interest in the Hungarian history and society,  expressing the love the Hungarian people owe to him and the great appreciation for his work,  in documenting the most important meeting for the Hungarian men of letters and writers in the most difficult stages of life in Hungary,  in 1979.

The opening ceremony of the exhibition,  which runs until the end of next July,  was attended by violinist Marianne Talian, a large group of artists, poets and writers as well as representatives of the “Forum for Syria” and members of the Syrian community in Hungary.
