Syrian Army Stresses Commitment to Protecting Citizens from Jabhat al-Nusra Terrorists’ Crimes

DAMASCUS, (ST)- A military source has stressed the Syrian Arab army’s commitment to protecting the Syrian citizens from the crimes of Jabhat al-Nusra terrorists and to decisively confront this terror organization in cooperation with the locals in the country’s southern region.

The source told SANA that Jabhat al-Nusra terror group continues to commit crimes against citizens, to target Syrian army positions and to stir up tension in the south of the country in order to hinder the achievement of local reconciliation with the remaining armed groups which are ready to hand over their weapons and settle their legal status.

“Because the continuity of this extraordinary situation means the continuity of the suffering of civilians in the towns and villages that seek reconciliation, the Syrian Arab army affirms its commitment to protect citizens and decisively confront Jabhat al-Nusra terrorist organization in cooperation with honest locals of Syria’s southern region areas as to eliminate this terror group entirely, the source said.

The fate of Jabhat al-Nusra deployed in Syria’s south “will be similar to that of other terrorist takfiri groups in other Syrian areas which have been liberated by the Syrian army, the source added.

The Syrian army continued its military operations against terrorist hideouts in Daraa eastern and northeastern countryside as well as in Sweida northwestern countryside amid the terrorists’ state of confusion and collapse. The operations inflicted heavy losses upon the terrorists and resulted in establishing control over several villages in these areas.
