Syrian army retakes strategic areas in Lattakia countryside, foils attack on airbase in Aleppo

PROVINCES,(ST)_Syrian army has recaptured strategic areas in the northern countryside of Lattakia and has killed many terrorists that tried to infiltrate into Kweris airbase and safe areas in Aleppo.

According to a military source, army units in cooperation with popular defense groups regained today control over mountains of al-Sindian, al-Rahmaleyeh and al-Meqtraneyeh plus towns of Zifa and Biet Khaddour in the wake of fierce clashes with the terrorist organizations there.

The clashes resulted in the death of many terrorists, most of them were belonging to al-Nusra Front, and the flee of scores of terrorists towards areas adjacent to Turkish border from which large numbers of mercenaries infiltrated with the support of the Turkish regime.

Add to that, army units fortified fixed positions in the recaptured areas to be Launchpad for pursuing terrorists organization sin nearby areas and hills.

Terrorists affiliated to the al-Nusra Front and the  so-called the ‘Ahrara al-Sahel’ and the ‘Sultan Abdul Hamid’ brigade spread in the northern countryside of Lattakia.

Clashes

The recapture of the strategic areas in the northern countryside of Lattakia coincided with clashes erupted between army units and terrorists that tried to infiltrate into mountains of al-Qareh, Azzana and al-Betmeh and Haddain town.

” The infiltration bid was foiled and most of the terrorists were killed and injured,” a military source said, adding that several vehicles belonging to the terrorists were also destroyed.

The source confirmed that army units repelled terrorists’ attack on Kweris airbase, about 40km east of Aleppo city, and killed large numbers of terrorists.

As many as 31 terrorists were killed in several areas in Aleppo, according to social media.

Further terrorists affiliated to the ‘Jaish al-Fateh’ were killed in Jisr Esh Shugur countryside, Maaret Mesrin, Abu Duhur and Kafer Ewid towns in Idlib countryside.

In the southern region, army units destroyed an arms cache belonging to the al-Nusra Front in an area located west of Tal Mas’hara, about 22km east of Quneitra city, and eliminated many terrorists in al-Hamedeyeh town in the western countryside of Quneitra and in the southwestern countryside of Damascus.

28 ISIS terrorists killed

In the northwestern countryside of Damascus, army units in cooperation with the Lebanese resistance killed most of the members of three  terrorist organizations during clashes in Zabadani area.

The clashes came a day after Syrian warplanes pounded one of the terrorist organizations’ hideouts on the outskirts of the ‘al-Seyaha’ Hotel  in al-Mahatta square in Zabadani city.

All terrorists inside the hideout died, according to the official news agency (SANA).

The agency added that army units clashed with ISIS terrorists, who tried to infiltrate into a military post in Palmyra countryside, and struck ISIS targets  south-east of Palmyra where many terrorists were killed and 2 armored cars belonging to them were destroyed.

Last night, army units killed over 28 ISIS terrorists in quarries area and foiled infiltration bids into al-Bweda al-Sharqeyeh  area in Palmyra.

Two days ago, army units fully controlled the western al-Heer Palace , about 60km south-west of Palmyra city after a concentrated military operation against ISIS hideout.

Around 320km far away from Palmyra,  precisely in the southwestern countryside of Sweida, army units destroyed weapons-laden cars.

The province of Sweida witnessed today a terrorist attack when an explosive device exploded at the road linking Bothaina and al-Haqef towns, killing 2 persons and wounding a third.

In Der Ezzour province, Syrian warplanes bombed ISIS hideouts in al-Jafra and al-Mre’eyeh towns where many terrorist were killed and several vehicles were destroyed.

Separately, SANA reported that Defense Minister Lt. Gen. Fahd Jassem al-Freij inspected military posts in Quneitra countryside on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr.

Quneitra Governor Ahmad al-Sheikh Abdulqader also visited a military post in the eastern countryside of Quneitra on the same occasion.
