PROVINCES,(ST)-Syrian army has advanced outside Sweida and Hassaka and has killed al-Nusra Front military Emir in Daraa countryside and has repelled ISIS attack on gas station outside Palmyra, the official news agency reported Friday.
The agency quoted a military source as saying that army units regained control of Tal al-Majda’a, which lies east of al-Melh town in the eastsouthern countryside of Sweida after killing and injuring many terrorists there.
The fresh progress means that terrorists’ supply routes from the Jordanian border towards areas located southeast Sweida has become under army’s fire.
The Syrian-Jordanian border witnesses intense flow of foreign terrorists and arms into Syrian territories.
Another progress was made by army units in the northeastern countryside of Hassaka.
Army units recaptured towns of Farfara, Tal Ahmad, Kherbet Noura, Tfiha and Khazneh and al-Tawarij silos in the southern countryside of Qamishli in the wake of wide-scale operations against ISIS sites there.
“The operations resulted in the destruction of several vehicles belonging to terrorists,” SANA reporter said, adding that army units continue to comb the towns and defused dozens of explosive devices planted by terrorists in homes and on roads.
On February 5, army units regained control of 16 towns and farms in the eastern countryside of Hassaka.
al-Nusra Front military Emir killed
In another development, army units killed many terrorists in Tal Antar in the northeastern countryside of Daraa and in Hasno town in the southeastern countryside of Damascus.
Sophisticated devices belonging to terrorists were destroyed in Daraa al-Balad, a military source said.
The terrorist organizations admitted through social media that the military Emir of al-Nusra Front in South region, dubbed Abo Omar al-Mokhrtar, was killed in the northwestern countryside of Daraa.
The military Emir was of Jordanian nationality.
ISIS attack on gas station repelled
In central Homs province, army units repelled ISIS attack on the Arak gas station, which lies 55km north-east of Palmyra in Homs countryside.
Well over 10 ISIS terrorists were mowed down and 15 others wounded during the confrontations.
