Syrian army, Lebanese resistance fully control strategic hill in Flita barrens in Qalamoun

PROVINCES,(ST)_Syrian army and Lebanese resistance have regained control over the strategic al-Thallajeh hill in Flita barrens on the Syrian-Lebanese border and have killed dozens terrorists there, media sources reported Friday.

The sources clarified that the recapture of the strategic hill in Qalamoun area came after a series of qualitative operations during which  dozens of terrorists were killed and injured.

The terrorist hideouts and reinforcements in the hill were completely destroyed  during the operations, the sources added.

Today’s achievement comes within the series of victories being achieved against terrorist organizations on the Syrian-Lebanese border and it has synchronized with recapturing jabal She’abet al-Qal’aa, which overlooks al-Khel Valley in Arsal barrens , plus part of al-Zamrani crossing in Qarra town’s barrens by the Lebanese resistance.  

On May 20, Syrian army and Lebanese resistances recaptured Jabal Shmeseh, al-Hsan, Qarnet al-Tawel, Qarnet al-Mesh and Eqbet al-Fasekh  in Flita barrens.

Qalamoun eastern gate towards central region closed

In this context, the Syrian General Command of the Army and Armed forces confirmed continuity of operations against terrorist organizations in Qalamoun barrens on the Syrian-Lebanese border to fully control the whole area.

The army command said in  a statement released today that army units in cooperation with popular defense groups completed last year the first stage through recapturing Der Ateyeh, al-Nabk, Yabroud, Maaloula, al-Sarkha, al-Jebbeh, Esal al-Ward and Flita areas in al-Qalamoun area outside Damascus.

It added that army units in cooperation with popular defense groups and Lebanese national resistance recaptured this year Raas al-Maara, Mousa hill, Jabal Shmes, Qanet al-Tawel, Flita barrens and several strategic points and hills within the second stage.

“The army units’ achievements in Qalamoun area is a knockdown blow  to the terrorist plot in this region and has dropped the dreams of its supporters,” the statement said.

It confirmed that the achievements in Qalamoun area contributed to secure roads linking the southern area and other areas as well as the border areas with Lebanon.

“Terrorists’ supply routes and crossings were cut in the area,” the statement indicated, adding that al-Qalamoun eastern gate towards the central region is closed and the grip on the remaining terrorist outposts in Damascus countryside and in the southern region was tightened.

Airstrikes on ISIS terrorists in Hasaka

As for the developments in other fronts, the official news agency (SANA) said that Syrian warplanes bombed ISIS groupings in the southern countryside Hasaka, killing and injuring  dozens of terrorists.

More terrorists were killed during clashes erupted between an army unit and the ISIS terrorists at Abyad bridge in the southeastern countryside of the same province [Hasaka].

While in the eastern countryside of Homs, army units destroyed several weapons-laden vehicles belonging to ISIS terrorists and killed many terrorists in towns of Salam Gharbi and al-Seltaneyeh, according to a military source

At the same time, army units targeted terrorist outposts in quarters of Bani Zied, Salahedin and Qadi Askar in Aleppo city and in several areas in Aleppo countryside as well as in the eastern Ghouta of Damascus and in Daraa and Quneitra countryside.

Two mortar emplacements plus terrorist hideouts were destroyed in the eastern Ghouta of Damascus, SANA said, adding that a convoy of vehicles belonging to the al-Nusra Front and the so-called the ‘al-Mothanna’ Movement were destroyed on Ghareyeh Sharqeyeh-Sora road in Daraa countryside.
