Syrian army wards off ISIS attack on airbase in Aleppo, retakes 16 buildings inside Zabadani

PROVINCES,(ST)_Scores of terrorists affiliated to al-Nusra Front , the ‘Jaish al-Fateh’ and ISIS have been killed in airstrikes carried out by Syrian warplanes  in the countryside of Idlib, Hama, Lattakia and Aleppo.

According to a military source, Syrian warplanes carried out today at dawn airstrikes against al-Nusra Front hideouts in al-Helweh and al-Rawda towns, about 60km north-east of Lattakia city, killing scores of terrorists, most of them were of foreign nationalities.

“A Saudi terrorist, dubbed Naser al-Islam, was among the terrorists killed in the airstrikes,” the source said, adding that an army unit killed 9 terrorists and destroyed two rocket launchers belonging to them in Atira town on the outskirts of Jabal Zahyeh in the northern countryside of Lattakia.

Further terrorists were killed during airstrikes against terrorist organizations in Tal Waset. Tal Zajram, al-Ankawi, Zizoun, al-Hallobi in the northwestern countryside of Hama and in the eastern countryside of Homs as well as in the eastern countryside of Aleppo.

17 foreign terrorists killed

Media reports confirmed the death of 25 terrorists, including 17 foreigners,  belonging to the so-called the ‘Islamic Turkistan Party’ and al-Nusr Front in Hama countryside.

While in Idlib countryside, Syrian warplanes bombed the ‘Jaish al-Fateh’ terrorists’ sites in Tal Salmo and al-Ter’a towns in Abo Duhur area, about 50km south-east of Idlib city.

Many terrorists were killed and injured there, according to the official news agency (SANA).

The agency also reported that army units warded off  ISIS terrorists’ attack on the Kweris airbase in the eastern countryside of Aleppo and killed scores of terrorists.

Several members of army units that defend the airbase were martyred during the clashes.

Moreover, army units in cooperation with the Lebanese resistance recaptured 16 buildings north of Zabadani city center in the wake of concentrated operations against hideouts of al-Nusra Front and the so-called the ‘Ahrar al-Sham Movement’ there. 

Fierce attack on towns in Idlib

In another development, the Beirut-based al-Mayadeen TV channel reported that popular defense groups in Kaferya and al-Fo’a towns in Idlib countryside warded off the fiercest offensive launched by terrorists on the two towns.  

“The popular groups destroyed two car bombs before they reached checkpoints in al-Swegheyeh and Deir al-Zagheb areas in the northern countryside of Idlib,” the TV channel said, indicating that the terrorists fired more than 500 rockets on the two towns in less than an hour.

Separately, SANA said that terrorist organizations fired mortar shells on al-Midan quarter in Aleppo city, killing at least 3 persons.
