Syrian army gears up for operation against terrorist groups to secure Aleppo city

ALEPPO, (ST)_Syrian army has continued to send military reinforcements to Aleppo to pave the way for launching a military operation at any moment  in order to secure Aleppo city and to open a new axis for operations to recapture parts of Aleppo-Hama international road, according to the Damascus-based  al-Watan newspaper.

The paper quoted a field source in the southern countryside of Aleppo as saying that the army sent tanks and soldiers to the lines of engagement in the western battlefields in Aleppo from which terrorist groups fire rockets on civilians in many districts of Aleppo city.

“The army fortified its positions on the axis of Hader-Khalsa towns in the southern countryside of Aleppo with the aim of opening a new battlefield along Aleppo-Hama road in order to advance towards Khan al-Asal town at the western entrance of Aleppo city,” the source said.

The Syrian army’s advance in the southern countryside of Aleppo would help cordon off terrorist groups in the eastern and southeastern sides of Idleb counytryside.

In another development, the paper reported that Syrian and Russian warplanes carried out joint airstrikes on terrorist groups’ hideouts in Saraqeb, Ma’asaran and Ghedfeh towns in the countryside of Ma’arret al-Noaman and on the outskirt of al-Dir al-Sharqi town in Idleb countryside.

“The airstrikes resulted in the death and injury of many terrorists,” a field source said, indicating that weather imposes a cautious calm in the axes of battlefields.

In the central province, the army units observed a movement for ISIS terrorists on the outskirts of Palmyra desert and targeted them.  .

All lines of engagement with ISIS terrorists along the eastern countryside of Homs witnessed a state of calm, while Syrian army fortified some positions on the outskirts of Sekhneh  area and pursued the movements of ISIS terrorists in the region  in order to target them.
