Syrian army and Palestinian forces will never allow ISIS to capture Yarmouk camp-PPSF

Secretary of the Alliance of Palestinian Forces Khaled Abdulmajed has stressed that the Syrian Arab army and the Palestinian forces will never allow ISIS terrorists to capture the Yarmouk camp located south of Damascus because this will poses a threat to nearby neighborhoods in Damascus.

His remark was made during an interview with the Damascus-based al-Watan newspaper, which confirmed the continuity of fierce clashes-started last Thursday- between the ISIS fighters positioned in al-Hajar al-Aswad area, which is adjacent to the Yarmouk camp, and the al-Nusra Front fighters positioned in the camp.

Abdulmajed, who also occupies the position of the Secretary-General of the Palestinian Popular Struggle Front (PPSF) , said that the clashes come within the escalation of ISIS attacks before the Syrian Parliamentary elections (due to be held on April  13th) and before the next round of Geneva talks (due to be held on the same date of elections).

“There seems to be a foreign decision for the escalation of the ISIS attacks in several areas as the ISIS has been defeated in Palmyra, Qaryateen town in Homs countryside,” he added, confirming that ISIS fighters made no progress in the ongoing clashes in the Yarmouk camp.

The clashes was erupted last Thursday after the ISIS fighters arrested several fighters from al-Nusra Front near al-Qadam headquarter and executed them.

Two ISIS leaders dubbed Abo Shadi and Abo Ali plus many fighters from the two terror organizations were killed during the clashes, according to media reports.

Regarding the UN-sponsored deal to evacuate ISIS fighters from the camp,  Abdulmajed clarified that the deal paused and not cancelled. “This topic will be discussed again in the office of the UN Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura.”
