NUR SULTAN,(ST)_The Syrian Arab Republic’s delegation, headed by Dr. Ayman Susan, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, arrived in Kazakhstan’s capital, Nur-Sultan, on Tuesday to participate in the 16 round of Astana talks on Syria, which is scheduled to start on Wednesday.
Kazakh Foreign Ministry announced in a statement that the Russian delegation headed by Russian President’s Special Envoy to Syria, Alexander Lavrentiev, also arrived in Nur-Sultan, to participate in the talks.
It is note worthy that the previous round of talks took place in the Russian city of Sochi on the coast of the Black Sea on 16 and 17 of last February.
The current round of talks was scheduled to take place last May, but it was postponed due to a surge in the spread of the Coronavirus epidemic in Kazakhstan.
