Syrian Arab army wipes out rocket launchers in Lattakia and Aleppo, mows dow host of al-Nusra Front-affiliates

PROVINCES,(ST)_ Large numbers of foreign-backed terrorists, mostly linked to al-Nusra Front, have been eliminated in operations targeted their hideouts outside Damascus, Daraa, Aleppo, Homs and Lattakia provinces, official and military sources say.

The sources said the Saturday operations carried out in areas of al-Qabon, Jobar, Doma,  eastern Ghouta (towns of al-Qasemeyeh and al-Bahhareyeh), Hajjira, al-Dyabeyeh and Darayya outside the capital (Damascus) ended in killing and injuring a host of terrorists.

They added that a large chunk of machine guns and various sorts of ammunitions were destroyed in the said area, noting that an army unit mowed down a terrorist group from al-Nusra Front while trying to infiltrate into al-Qasemeyeh town in  eastern Ghouta.

 Terrorist group arrested in Damascus

On the other hand, it was said that the competent authority nabbed an armed terrorist group in Masaken Barzeh area in Damascus. One of the bandits had assassinated several civilians and cadres in Barzeh and Rekneddin areas.

“Guns, bomb belts and ammunitions were seized with the group,” an official source told SANA.

Three bags of C-4 seized

Another official source said three bags full of C-4 substance were confiscated and a terrorist group was eliminated while trying to sneak into Qazhal town in  central Homs province. 

It noted that the armed forces pounded many hideouts of terrorists in quarters of Bab Hod, al-Qosor, and al-Waer and in areas of al-Dar al-Kabira and al-Rastan in the same province (Homs) as well as in Mnokh town outside Palmyra.

An unknown number of terrorists died in the said areas and in Daraa al-Balad as well as on the road linking  eastern Ghareyeh and Kherbet Ghazaleh outside Daraa province.

Squads of Jordanian and Moroccan nationals

Further losses were inflicted on the terrorists in Lattakia countryside, precisely in towns of Rabe’a, Akko and al-Taffaheyeh, as the armed forces raided four rocket launchers and a truck loaded with Grad rockets besides weapon-laden cars there.

At least two ringleaders and dozens of gangsters, some of  Jordanian and Moroccan nationalities, perished in the said towns, according to a military source.

More terrorists were hammered and another quantity of mortars and rocket launchers was destroyed in al-Sfera, al-Rashedin, al-Mansoura, al-Ashrafeyeh, al-Jadedeh, Khan al-Assal, Kweris areas and north of al-Nairab airbase in  northern Aleppo province.

Shell hits al-Qazzaz area

In a separate incident, at least one citizen was wounded in a mortar attack targeted al-Qazzaz area in Damascus.

A Police Command source clarified that the mortar shell- fired by the terrorists- landed on the southern highway in al-Qazzaz area leaving one citizen wounded.
