Syrian Arab Army Wards off ISIS Attack on Hassaka City, Redeploys in Raqqa

PROVINCES,(ST)_Army units have warded off an attack by hundreds of Arab and foreign terrorists affiliated to the ‘Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant’ (ISIS) on Hassaka city, as division 17 of the army in Raqqa province has been redeployed to confront the armed terrorist groups on the outskirts of the province.

According to the official news agency (SANA), the army units inflicted heavy losses on the ISIS-affiliated terrorists that tried to attack a garrison to the south of Hassaka province.

 

The agency quoted eyewitnesses as saying that the terrorists pulled back 15km towards the south of Hassaka city- precisely near al-Aresheh area.

The eyewitnesses pointed out that the terrorist ‘Abo Omar al-Chechani’ was leading hundreds of Arab and foreign terrorists who tried to attack Hassaka city.

Attack on BASP’s Hassaka branch

Yesterday, the army units and defense forces warded off terrorists’ attack on the headquarters of the Baath Arab Socialist Party (BASP) in the same province [Hassaka] and killed many terrorists.

“Several terrorists blew themselves up as they were trying to attack the building of the party where many persons were martyred including member of the Baath Arab Socialist Party, Eng. Hanna Atallah,” a source at the province of Hassaka declared.

In another development, the official agency confirmed that division 17 of the army units in Raqqa province has been redeployed to confront the armed terrorist groups on the outskirts of the province.

The redeployment of army units that defend the division 17 area coincided with eliminating many terrorists in several areas outside Damascus, Homs, Daraa and Idleb provinces and in and outside Aleppo province.

Several cars plus weapons and munitions for terrorists were destroyed in today’s operations in the said provinces.
