Syrian Arab army thwarts attack on Abu Duhur airbase, conducts fresh operations in Eastern Ghouta of Damascus

PROVINCES,(ST)_Army units have warded off terrorists attacks on Abu al-Duhur airbase in Idleb province, destroyed arms caches in Daraa and Homs provinces and carried out a series of operations in the Eastern Ghouta of Damascus, according to the official news agency (SANA).

The agency quoted military sources as confirming that dozens of terrorists were killed and injured and a chunk of weapons were wiped out in today’s operations.

The military sources clarified that military operations in eastern Ghouta of Damascus targeted terrorist groupings in and around al-Mliha and in Wadi Ein Tarma areas.

The operations synchronized with hunting down terrorists in Jobar quarter, few kilometers away from Damascus, destroying an arms depot in al-Zabadani area and shelling terrorist groupings in al-Rhebeh town and Jeroud area outside Damascus.

There were also clashes between the army units and armed terrorist groups in Darayya city, to the south-west of the capital [Damascus].

On the other hand, a source denied reports that the armed terrorist groups had captured part of Jaramana city and al-Dmeir airbase in Damascus countryside.

“These reports are entirely groundless and aim at raising spirits of the terrorist groups that are receiving blows from the army units,” the source said.

Moreover, the agency reported that the army units targeted terrorist groupings in more than 50 volatile areas in Idleb, Aleppo, Daraa, Homs provinces.

Several ringleaders of  terrorist groups were among those killed in the

contested areas, according to military sources.

Iraqi gunman surrenders

In a separate development, a military source declared that an Iraqi gunman turned himself in to the competent authorities in the old city of Homs.
