Syrian Arab army takes control over strategic hills in al-Qalamon area, strikes terrorist groups on Syrian-Jordanian border

PROVINCES,(ST)_Strategic hills overlooking Rankous plain in al-Qalamon area outside Damascus province have become under the control of the army units that have recorded a remarkable progress to the east of restive Jobar quarter and continued targeting  terrorist  groups in Daraa, Aleppo, Homs and Idleb provinces.

The above mentioned developments were reported today by the official news agency (SANA).

The agency quoted a military source as citing that the army units imposed full control over the eastern highlands overlooking Sahl Rankous [Rankous plain] in al-Qalamon area in the wake of a series of concentrated operations during which many terrorists were killed and a quantity of weapons and munitions were destroyed.

Why are hills strategic?

The source clarified that Ra’as Tahon al-Hawa hill and al-Mastabeh that are overlooking the Lebanese al-Tofail town and hills of Jame’a al-Nour hill and Mahmeyet al-Toyor were among the highlands that became under the army’s control.

“By imposing control over those hills that are strategic, weapons supply routes for terrorist groups between Lebanese borders and Rankous and Hosh Arab town as well as Sahl al-Zabadani have been cut off,” the military source confirmed.

It added that the fresh gain will make pursuing the remaining terrorist groups in some farms and towns to the north-east of Rankous, including towns of Hosh Arab, al-Sarkha, al-Jebbeh, al-Mahabbeh and Ma’aloula, much easier.

Several ringleaders’ whereabouts obliterated

The source asserted that several whereabouts for terrorist groups’ leaders were obliterated in Rankous plain and al-Mahabbeh town, noting that large numbers of terrorists died.

More terrorists were crushed when the army units pounded terrorist groups’ hideouts in al-Mona hill overlooking towns of al-Sarkha, al-Jebbeh and al-Majar.

Progress in Jobar battle

The other fronts in Damascus countryside are still witnessing military operations against terrorist groups where scores of terrorists, some belonging to the so-called he ‘Islamic Front’, have been eliminated in the eastern Ghouta and Adra area and a remarkable progress has been made to the east of Jobar quarter.

The progress was made after he army units imposed control over several buildings in which terrorists were harboring.

Syrian-Jordanian border

Meanwhile, a military source declared that the army units targeted armed terrorist groups as they were planting explosive devices between garrisons on the Syrian-Jordanian borders.

Several explosive devices were defused by the army units.

Elsewhere, the army units targeted terrorist groupings in more that 31 areas in Homs, Aleppo and Idleb provinces where many terrorists were killed and injured.

A military source told the official agency that the army units seized weapons and walkie-talkies in Idleb countryside.
