Syrian Arab army scores fresh gains in Damascus countryside

PROVINCES,(ST)_A day after vanquishing foreign- backed terrorists from the industrial al-Qabon area and from the northwestern part of Sayyedeh Zainab in Damascus countryside, it was declared that a quarter  in the southern side of the same province became under the army’s control.

 Units of the armed forces, according to the Syrian TV channel, imposed  control today over al-Aqileh quarter in Hajjira town outside Damascus after destroying all terrorist groupings there.

“Tens of booby-traps planted by terrorists inside citizens’ homes in the quarter were defused during mopping-up operations,” an official source told SANA.

At the same time, the army’s crackdown operations against terrorists continued in the eastern Ghouta and in the suburbs of Barzeh, Zamalka, Erbin, Doma, and Harasta as well as in al-Dyabeyeh, Khan al-Sheh, Beit Jen, and Skik areas.

3 ringleaders killed

As many as three terrorist ringleaders and dozens of gangsters were eliminated in the operations which also resulted in destroying heavy machine guns and various types of weapons.

Attack on Aleppo prison foiled 

Other operations were launched in Aleppo province and in northern and western countryside amid report of confronting an attack launched by an armed terrorist group called “Jabhet al-Islam” on the central prison.

Many terrorists were killed and injured in the confrontation.

Another terrorist attack on towns of Nubel and al-Zahra’a was warded off by the armed forces in cooperation with the locals.

Two terrorists from Chechnya were among the dead.

Hideouts and rocket launchers destroyed

On the other hand, several hideouts of terrorists were reportedly obliterated in quarters of al-Khaledeyeh, Bab Hod, al-Qarabis, and Basatin al-Ghouta in the central Homs province, and in al-Tebeh town in Palmyra, as well as in Kafr Nabbodeh town outside Hama province.

Heavy machine guns and rocket launchers were destroyed in the said areas, according to an official source.

In Idlib province, the armed forces carried out qualitative operations against terrorists’ hideouts in areas of al-Shegr, al-Janodeyeh, al-Sekkareyeh, Jabal al-Arba’en, al-Rami, Jobat, Nahleyeh, Afes, and Der Sonbol.

A military source confirmed that many  terrorists were crushed in the operations.

Terrorists open fire on bus outside Homs

In another development, an armed terrorist group opened fire on a bus near blankets factory- between Qaser al-Naeemi and Tal al-Omari- in Homs countryside.

“At least a citizen was martyred and others wounded in the terrorist attack,” a military source told SANA.
