Syrian Arab army regains control of 8 towns plus hills in Hama

PROVINCES,(ST)_Helfaya town and its surrounding in northern countryside of Hama have been recaptured by Syrian army in cooperation with national defense groups, General Command of Army and Armed Forces declared Friday.

The fresh victory comes after restoration of stability and peace to towns of Erzeh, Khattab, Kherbet al-Hjameh, Belhsin, al-Qse’eyeh, Sher’aya, Tal al-Samsam and hills located west of Tebet al-Ima town in northern countryside of Hama.

Large numbers of terrorists, most of them non-Syrians, were killed and a lot of their vehicles and weapons were destroyed in the said towns, according to a statement released by the army’s general command.

The statement underscored that Syrian army had carried out concentrated strikes against terrorist groups in the towns a head of recapturing them.

“This achievement is a decisive blow to the terrorist plot and its supporters. It also reflects Syrian people’s determination to uproot terrorism nationwide,” the statement read.

In a further development, Syrian army destroyed five cars loaded with weapons for terrorists in Hmemeh and Retyan towns in Aleppo countryside and pounded many terrorists’ hideouts in al-Rashedin quarter in Aleppo city.

Other hideouts for terrorists in Beit Jen town in Damascus countryside and in several areas in Quneitra, Homs and Daraa were obliterated by Syrian army, according to the official news agency (SANA).

Many terrorists were killed and injured there.

A field commander in the so-called the ‘Islamic state of Iraq and the Levant’ ISIL, dubbed Abo Hafs al-Yamani, was killed during clashes with Syrian army near al-Ta’aneh town in Aleppo countryside, Beirut-based al-Mayadeen TV channel reported. 

On the other hand, Syrian army repelled terrorists’ infiltration attempt from al-Waer quarter into Mohandesen square in Homs.
