Syrian Arab Army Recaptures Strategic Ridge in Lattakia Countryside, Foils Terrorists’ Infiltration Bids into al-Ashrafeyeh in Aleppo City
PROVINCES,(ST)_The strategic Jabal Zgharo [ well known as Allosh ridge] in the northern countryside of Lattakia has been recaptured by the army units just a day after restoration of stability and security to seven towns in the eastern countryside of al-Qamishli and defeating terrorists from Ein Mnin town outside Damascus.
The official news agency (SANA) reported today that the army units restored stability and security to Zgharo town and regained control of Jabal Zgharo in Rabe’a area in the northern countryside of Lattakia.
“Recapture of the strategic ridge, which is located 30km to the north -east of Lattakia city, means cutting the armed terrorist groups’ supply routes from Rabe’a town and controlling Aleppo-Lattakia road in Ko’a al-Sokon town as well as preventing gunmen’s infiltration into al-Bahloleyeh town and nearby farms,” a military source clarified.
The source added that terrorist groupings in towns of Ghmam al-Daghmashleyeh, al-Zwek, Der Hanna and al-Qasab towards Khan al-Joz, Jabal al-Nobeh, Salma and nearby towns are now caught in crossfire.
Seven towns in Qameshli ‘safe’
A day earlier, the army units regained control of seven towns- Kherbet Jaddo’a, Ano Jalal, Molok al-Saraya, Kherbet Jammo, Em Jfar, Em Jfar al-Gharbi and al-Jadedeh- in the eastern countryside of al-Qamishli .
The army units also defeated terrorists from Ein Mnin town in Damascus countryside.
The fresh gains in the past 24 hours coincided with continuation of operations against terrorist groupings in and outside Aleppo province and outside Idleb, Damascus, Homs and Daraa provinces.
A military source was quoted on the official agency as citing that the army units targeted terrorist groups in more than 19 flashpoint areas in and outside Aleppo province and thwarted armed terrorist groups’ infiltration attempts into safe areas in al-Ashrafeyeh quarter in Aleppo city.
The source confirmed that the terrorist groups were inflicted big losses there.
Other terrorist groupings in Selqin and al-Rouj plain as well as near Martin, Ein Sheib and Saraqeb towns in Idleb countryside were also struck by the army units.
‘Soqor al-Ma’arra’ brigade’s ringleader killed
Many terrorists belonging to the so-called ‘Ahrar al-Sham’, ‘Ahrar al-Zaweyeh’, ‘Soqor al-Sham’ and ‘Thowwar Saraqeb’ Front perished in the said areas, the official agency said, adding that the army units targeted a hideout for terrorist ringleaders near Kafr Roma town in Ma’arret al-No’aman and destroyed an arms depot and cars for terrorists in Selqin town.
The agency pointed out that the army units wiped out a fuel depot in the surrounding of Saraqeb city and warded off an armed terrorist group’s attack on a garrison in al-Hamedeyeh town outside Idleb.
Ringleader of the so-called ‘Soqor al-Ma’arra’ brigade dubbed Abo Aslan was among the terrorists killed in the confrontation in al-Hamedeyeh town.
