PROVINCES,(ST)_Over the past 72 hours, the army units have made progress in fighting foreign-backed terrorists in Yabroud area outside Damascus and in the southern countryside of Quneitra province as well as in al-Mri’iyeah farms outside Der Ezzour province.
On February 21st, the official news agency said that the army units advanced in tracking down terrorists in Rima farms and in the north and south-east sides of Yabroud city in Damascus countryside after pounding tens of hideouts and eliminating many terrorists, some belonging to al-Nusra Front and the so-called ‘Ahrar al-Sham’ movement.
A day later, the army units battered the terrorists and flushed them out of farms of Rasm al-Hor and Rasm al-Sad in the southern countryside of Quneitra province and taking control over the farms.
While the third progress in fighting terrorist groups was made today as the army units eliminated the last remaining terrorist groupings in the surrounding hills of al-Mri’iyeah farm in Der Ezzour countryside and recaptured the area.
A source declared that ringleaders of the so-called ‘Saqr Qoraish’ battalion, ‘Ahl Badr’ battalion, ‘Abo Bakr al-Seddeq’ battalion and ‘Ahrar al-Sham’ movement were among the terrorists killed in the hills.
More terrorists were crushed in operations conducted by the army units in several restive areas outside Damascus province and in Aleppo and Homs provinces, according to the state-run Syrian TV channel.
The army units thwarted infiltration attempt into al-Jarajer town, to the north of Yabroud area outside Damascus, and imposed control over al-Jarabe’a valley adjacent to al-Mesherfeh town in the wake of killing many terrorists and destroying their weapons there.
The terrorists lost more weapons when the army units wiped out 14 weapons-laden cars in al-Sheikh Najjar area and in towns of Ebtin and Jeb al-Safa in northern Aleppo province.
Aleppo central prison
However, on the outskirts of Aleppo central prison, the terrorist groups prevented the Syrian Arab Red Crescent from entering medicines to the prison for the sixth day running, according to Mohammad Wahid Akkad [the Governor of Aleppo].
The Governor has warned of a looming humanitarian catastrophe if the terrorist groups go ahead with their acts that contradict the international laws.
On Thursday, Interior Ministry said that a terrorist group and suicide bombers tried to break into Aleppo central prison after exploding two vehicle bombs at the main gate where a clash raged between guard forces and the terrorists.
The clash ended in killing 20 suicide bombers and dozens of armed terrorists.
The ministry noted that 3 members of the guard forces were martyred and 20 other wounded in the clash.
Water station attack
Another clash flared up today between an army unit and an armed terrorist group that tried to attack drinking water station in al-Mesherfeh town in central Homs province.
The locals of al-Mesherfeh town cooperated with the army unit in foiling the attack, the official agency said.
It added that a large number of terrorists was killed and an arms dump plus hideouts were destroyed in al-Hesn, al-Khaledeyeh and Hosh al-Dhawahreh towns in the same province [Homs].
Shells hit urban areas
In a separate development, terrorists launched shells on Jaramana district outside Damascus and on al-Abbaseyen area in the capital [Damascus]and opened fire on a motorcycle and a car in Harasta area outside Damascus.
At least two citizens were wounded in the terrorist acts which leaving damages at the scene.
Syria is fighting terrorism exported from around 83 countries.
The US, France, the UK, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Qatar sponsor the terrorist groups operating in Syria, world media reports say.
