Syrian Arab army makes fresh gains northeast Damascus, eliminates many ISIL-linked terrorists in Der Ezzour
PROVINCES,(ST)_Syrian army has regained control of Adra al-Balad and Adra al-Jadedeh in northeastern countryside of Damascus and has obliterated a hideout for the ISIL-linked terrorists in Der EZZour city, according to military sources.
The fresh gain in northeastern countryside of Damascus comes two days after Syrian army recaptured Adra al-Ommaleyeh city.
“The army units are combing Adra al-Balad and Adra al-Jadedeh and clearing out explosive planted by terrorists,” a military source told reporters.
A leader in the so-called the ‘Islam Army’, dubbed Abu Hasan, was killed during clashes with Syrian army in Adra al-Balad, media reports confirmed.
In December 2013, terrorists belonging to al-Nusra Front and the ‘Islam Army’ entered Adra al-Ommaleyeh city and perpetrated heinous massacres against civilians there.
Well over 100.000 persons were living in Adra city, but most of them were displaced because of terrorist acts.
In another development, Syrian army advanced into al-Dekhaneyeh town in the eastern Ghouta of Damascus and imposed control over quarters of al-Kharrat and al-Abras north the town.
The successive achievements in Damascus countryside coincided with military operations against terrorist groups in Daraa, Aleppo, Der Ezzour and outside Homs.
Strikes against Daesh
Syrian warplanes struck the main headquarters for the ‘State of Iraq and the Levant’ organization [known as Daesh in Arabic] in Maskaneh town outside Aleppo and obliterated a hideout for the same organization in Bor Saed Street in Der Ezzour city.
There were fierce clashes between armed groups and the terror organization Daesh near Ehtmelat and Dabeq in Aleppo countryside.
On the other hand, Syrian army thwarted terrorists’ infiltration bid into Othman town in Daraa countryside and targeted terrorist groups in al-Rastan city in Homs and in several towns in the eastern countryside of the same province [Homs].
