Syrian Arab army kills over 60 ISIS terrorists in Der Ezzour, engages in heavy fighting with al-Nusra Front in Idlib

PROVINCES,(ST)_Syrian army has killed over 60 ISIS terrorists in Der Ezzour and has conducted  qualitative operations in Hassaka, media sources reported Tuesday.

The sources clarified that army units killed over 60 terrorists affiliated to the ISIS [known as Daesh in Arabic] in al-Mre’eyeh, al-Jafra, Hwejet sakr and Mohasan in Der Ezzour amid continuity of strikes against terrorist organizations outside Daraa and Hama.

The strikes resulted in eliminating dozens of terrorists in Kafr Zetta town in Hama countryside and in Sida, Bosra al-Sham and Daraa al-Balad in southern Daraa province.

Daraa countryside witnessed last night clashes between al-Nusra Front and the ‘Shohada’a al-Yarmouk’ brigade, according to the Damascus-based al-Watan newspaper.

The clashes ended in the death of leader of the ‘Maghawer al-Haq’ battalion affiliated to the ‘Shohada’a al-Yarmouk’ brigade, his name Mos’ab Zetoneh, and holding five of his men in one of the brigade’s sites on the outskirts of Sahm al-Golan town.

Tactical withdrawal

Al-Watan newspaper, in addition, said that Wadi al-Daif Camp’s protection units carried out tactical withdrawal towards al-Hamedeyh camp and Bsida town where heavy fighting flared between the units and more than 2500 gunmen from al-Nusra Front and allied extremists.

Syrian TV channel confirmed yesterday that there were heavy fighting between army units and armed terrorist organizations in al-Hamedeyeh town.     

Back to developments in other provinces , Syrian army carried out qualitative operations against ISIS sites near al-Seddeq town junction and al-Rahaf farm that lies about 15 km far away from Hasaka city.

“Many ISIS terrorists were killed and 3 vehicles equipped with DSHK guns were destroyed in the operations, ” a military source said, adding that large number of terrorists linked to ISIS were eliminated and several weapons-laden vehicles were wiped out in al-Melbeyeh town in the same province [Hassaka].

Al-Melbeyeh town is located 15km south Hassaka and it sustained repeated attacks, but Syrian army foiled dozens of ISIS attempts to capture the town to cut off the road linking Hassaka and al-Shdadi.

In central Homs province, Syrian army thwarted terrorists’ infiltration bid into Abo al-Alaya town in the eastern countryside of the province and pounded several terrorist hideouts in al-Ghanto town .
