Syrian Arab army kills 34 foreign terrorists outside Damascus, targets ISIS sites in Hassaka, Homs

PROVINCES,(ST)_At least 34 foreign terrorists were killed when Syrian army warded off attacks on military posts in Damascus countryside on Sunday, according to a military source.

The source clarified that terrorists tried to attack several military posts east al-Salam highway on the outskirts of Khan al-Sheih farms in Damascus countryside, but army units warded off the attacks and killed 34 foreign terrorists including 2 Saudis, a Moroccan and Jordanian.

“A leader in the so-called the ‘Ahrar al-Sham’ Movement, his name Suleiman al-Qahtani, was one of the two Saudis killed in the confrontations that also ended in destroying 8 vehicles equipped with heavy machineguns belonging to terrorists,” the source said.

Last night, the Damascus-based al-Watan newspaper reported that clashes and military operations had escalated over the past two days south Damascus amid reports of terrorist organizations’ determination to ignite Yalda, Babbila and al-Qadam areas in the same province.

Terrorist organizations plan to invade areas south Damascus

It added that members of al-Nusra Front attacked a barrack in al-Qa’a area near al-Yarmouk camp and guards of al-Qadam train station, therefore two airstrikes were carried out against al-Nusra Front sites in al-Hajar al-Aswad area and al-Yarmouk camp.

Al-Hajar al-Aswad area was declared as an ‘Islamic Emirate’ headed by the Emir ‘Abo Sayyah Frameh’ affiliated to the ISIS.

“Successive meetings are being held between leaders of the ISIS, al-Nusra Front and the free army militias in al-Hajar al-Aswad area to draw up plans to invade Yalda, Babbila and al-Qadam areas in which reconciliation deal put into effect,” the paper said.  

It confirmed the continuity of clashes between the Palestinian popular committees and the armed groups on the axis of the ‘al-Thalathin’ Street, the ‘Palestine’ Street and al-Tadamon quarter where dozens of gunmen were killed.

Qualitative operations

As for developments in other frontlines, the official news agency (SANA) said today that Syrian army carried out qualitative operations against al-Nusra Front and allied terrorist groups in in Bsames, Qaston and al-Sermaneyeh towns outside Idlib and in al-Sheikh Meskin and Athman towns as well as in Daraa al-Balad in southern Daraa province.  

The agency indicated that Syrian army carried out a qualitative operation against the ISIS sites in al-Melbeyeh area, which lies 20km south Hassaka city, and killed large number of ISIS terrorists there.

Further terrorists affiliated to the same organization [ISIS] were eliminated as Syrian army continued hunting down them in the eastern and northern edges of Homs countryside.

Syrian army destroyed one of terrorist outposts in al-Waer quarter in Homs city , SANA said.
