Syrian Arab army inflicts heavy losses upon terrorists— Over 600 gunmen surrender in 15 days

PROVINCES,(ST)_The number of gunmen who turned themselves in to the competent authorities has been calculated at more than 600 in just two weeks, as the army units go ahead with fighting terrorism that exported to Syria from around 83 countries.

Today, as many as 30 gunmen from al-Zara and al-Hesn towns and al-Qarabis and Joret al-Shayah quarters in central Homs province surrendered themselves in to the competent authorities, putting the total number of misled men, who returned to the bosom of the homeland, at 605 in two weeks.

Some of the gunmen in al-Hesn town told the official news agency that the armed terrorist groups, particularly those who belong to the so-called ‘Jend al-Sham, had forced them to carry weapons. But they [the gunmen] decided to return to the bosom of the homeland and voluntary surrendered their weapons to the competent authorities.   

The situations of the 30 gunmen plus 55 other ones in Zakyeh town outside Damascus were settled, according to media reports.

Qualitative operations in Jobar , Duma

On the other hand, reports said that the army units eliminated many terrorists, mostly of Arab and foreign nationalities, in qualitative operations near health center in Jobar quarter and in Alya farms in Duma area in Damascus countryside.

The official agency’s reporter in Damascus countryside announced names of Libyan, Afghani and Saudi terrorists among the dead in the said areas.

More terrorists, some belonging to al-Nusra Front, were killed in the ongoing battle in Yabroud city and at its northern and eastern entrances and in clashes flared up in Darayya city.  

While in al-Zabadani area, a hideout for terrorists was pounded and several terrorists, including a ringleader, died there.

Infiltration bid into Aleppo city

Moving to the north of the country, a military source declared that terrorists’ infiltration bid into Barakat hill in Aleppo city was foiled by the army units.

It confirmed that terrorist groups were inflicted heavy losses in operations that targeted their groupings and hideouts in Bestan a-Qasr, Masaken Hanano, and Salaheddin quarter in Aleppo city as well as in Kweris, Jdaydeh, Rasm al-Abbod, al-Wade’a, surrounding of central prison, the industrial city, Kafr Hamra, Handarat, Hritan, al-Kastello, Der Hafer, Maskaneh, Kshesh and Andan outside Aleppo.

Attack on Khan Shekhon garrison

 Around 65km to the south-west of Aleppo, precisely in Idleb province, the army units warded off terrorists’ attack on a garrison in Khan Shekhon and shelled terrorist groupings in Sermin, Kafr Rohen and at central prison, Abo Reb’e mountain as well as on Harim-Selqin road.

A military source said that many terrorists were crushed in the said areas and two cars for terrorists were wiped out.

Elsewhere, Alikhbaria Syria TV channel said that the army units targeted terrorist groupings in several restive areas in southern Daraa province and in Der Ezzour province where many terrorists perished.

The US, France, the UK, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Qatar sponsor the terrorist groups operating in Syria, world media reports say.
