Syrian Arab Army Impose Control Over Town Adjacent to Lebanese Border, Ward off Attack on Air Force Academy

Provinces,(ST)_A large-scale operation against foreign-backed terrorists has  started in Yabroud area outside Damascus province amid reports of shooting down an airship and warding off an attack on air force academy in Aleppo province. 

The official news agency said on Wednesday that the army units made progress in hunting down al-Nusra front-affiliates in Al-Qalamon area and wiped out several terrorist groupings and hideouts on the wide road and in al-Qame’eyeh quarter, Al-Kornish area and Rima farms in Yabroud area outside Damascus province.

al-Jarajer town under army’s control

It added that al-Jarajer town and surrounding farms, adjacent to the Lebanese Arsal town, has become under the army’s control in the wake of eliminating the remaining terrorist groupings there.

The army units destroyed the terrorists’ vehicles on the road stretching between al-Jarajer and al-Mesherfeh towns and killed terrorist groups in Wadi al-Mal and al-Zemrani area near Qarra city in al-Qalamon area.

The operation in Al-Qalamon area coincided with the continuity of operations against terrorist groupings in Khan al-Sheih, Adra, Jobar, al-Mleha, Zebdin, Der al-Asafer and Darayya areas outside Damascus province.

Many terrorists died in the said areas, the official agency reported.

Airship shot down

More terrorists were mowed down when the army units warded off attacks on al-Hamedey quarter and the air forces academy, according to a military source.

The source added that an airship, equipped with cameras, was shot down by the army units, clarifying that the airship was launched by the armed terrorist groups over Aleppo prison.

It cited that a number of terrorists perished as the army units pounded hideouts and groupings of terrorists in towns of Hilan, al-Meselmeyeh, Mayer, al-Mansoura, al-Zebdeyeh, al-Bab and the industrial city as well as in quarters of al-Marjeh, al-Sekkari, Qadi Askar, Masaken Hanano, Katm Mayser, Karm al-Tahhan and al-Rashedin in the city of Aleppo.

Explosive devices destroyed

In Lattakia countryside, the army units destroyed two arms caches including explosive devices and rockets in in Salma area and shelled terrorist groupings in towns of al-Soda, Jabal al-Nobeh, al-Shahrora.

Elsewhere, the army units targeted terrorist groupings in several areas in Homs, Daraa, Hama and Idleb provinces.

In a separate incident, at least 2 citizens were martyred and 10 others wounded in a terrorist attack on al-Quosor quarter in Der Ezzour province.

The terrorist attack happened when terrorists fired a shell on the quarter.

Syria is fighting terrorism exported from around 83 countries.

Syria’s Permanent Representative to the UN Bashar al-Ja’afari told the Beirut-based al-Mayadden TV channel today that 14.000 Chechens, 12.000 Saudis and 4.000 Libyans are fighting in the country.

The US, France, the UK, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Qatar sponsor the terrorist groups operating in Syria, world media reports say.
