Syrian Arab Army Goes Ahead with Concentrated Operations —Terrorists Kill 3 Civilians, Target Gas Pipeline
PROVINCES,(ST)_The army units have pressed ahead with conducting concentrated operations; found an arms cache outside Damascus province , destroyed a tunnel in Homs and warded off an attack on Azezeh town’s locals in Aleppo province, according to military sources.
The operations were carried out today against terrorist groupings in Yabroud, Darayya, al-Zabadani, Duma, Erbin, Harasta, Jobar and al-Mleha areas in Damascus countryside where an unknown number of terrorists was killed and a quantity of weapons were destroyed.
In the same province [Damascus countryside], the army units discovered an arms cache containing rifles and mortar shells in al-Nabk farms and eliminated an Islamic Front-linked terrorist group that tried to sneak into Adra al-Balad.
Yabroud battle
On Friday, it was reported that al-Kauwiti hill and surrounding ridge in Yabroud area have become under the control of the army that made progress in the ongoing battle in al-Sahl town and Rima farms.
Dozens of terrorists were killed there and an armed terrorist group was eliminated as it was trying to infiltrate from Esal alWard area into Rima farms.
The day before recapturing the hills, at least 20 terrorists were mowed down in an ambush as they were trying to infiltrate into a road between the eastern Ghouta and al-Qalamon area outside Damascus.
Hideout for al-Nusra Front pounded
Back to results of today’s operations elsewhere, the official news agency said that army units crushed an armed terrorist group affiliated to al-Nusra Front to the east of al-Rastan city, obliterated hideouts for terrorists outside Talbisa and in towns of al-Zara and al-Hesn and destroyed a tunnel stretching from Bab Sb’aa quarter to the quarters of the old city in central Homs province.
The agency quoted a military source s saying that armed terrorist groups were eliminated in towns of al-Khaledeyeh, al-Ghajar, Berj Qa’ai, al-Haj Mas’oud farm in the same province.
It added that the army units foiled terrorists’ attack on Azezeh town’s locals and targeted many terrorist groupings in several areas in northern Aleppo province as well as pounded hideout for al-Nusra Front in al-Reshdeyeh quarter in Der Ezzour province.
Gas pipeline explosion
As for terrorist attacks against civilians and the country’s infrastructure, the agency reported that a terrorist group targeted, last night, a gas pipeline in al-Taim area causing an explosion there and stopping production in Der Ezzour gas plant.
“The attack caused the leakage of 2.5 million cubic meter of gas estimated at amount of Syrian pound 200 million,” an official source in Oil and Mineral Resources Ministry said, adding that the attack will lead to a shortage in feeding power plants with fuel.
Mortar attacks
Another terrorist attack took place today in the capital [Damascus] when 5 shells- fired by terrorists- hit al-Abbaseyen area leaving 3 citizens wounded.
Other 3 citizens were martyred and 10 others wounded when 2 missiles rocked al-Midan quarter in Homs province, according to a source in Homs Governorate.
The source added that terrorists fired more shells on Qormos town in al-Hola area leaving 2 children wounded.
Two days ago, at least 18 civilians were wounded when 2 shells landed in Bab Sharqi quarter in Damascus.
Syria is fighting terrorism exported from around 83 countries.
The US, France, the UK, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Qatar sponsor the terrorist groups operating in Syria, world media reports say.
