Syrian Arab Army Finds Weapons-smuggling Tunnel in Jobar Area, Wipes out Bomb-making Factory Outside Hama
PROVINCES,(ST)_The army units have discovered a weapon-smuggling tunnel in Jobar area outside Damascus, destroyed a bomb-making factory outside Hama province and clashed with armed terrorist groups in several areas, according to the official news agency.
The said developments synchronized with the continuation of decisive military operations in Yabroud area in Damascus countryside and in several restive areas in central Homs province as well as in northern Aleppo province.
The agency quoted a military source as citing today that a 100-meter long tunnel equipped with lights was found in Jobar area, around 4.5km to the east of Damascus.
“An army unit destroyed the tunnel, which was used by terrorist groups to convey weapons,” the source said.
Clashes
There were also clashes between army units and armed terrorist groups in the same area [Jobar] and in Erbin and Darayya areas outside Damascus.
The clashes ended in killing and injuring many terrorists, according to the official agency.
More terrorists belonging to brigades of the so-called ‘Fajr al-Islam’ and ‘Maghawir al-Qalamon’ were eliminated in a series of operations that targeted their groupings in the industrial city and al-Matahen quarter in Yabroud city in al-Qalamon area, around 75 km to the north-east of Damascus.
Bomb-making factory
While in Hama province, precisely to the west of Tebet al-Imam town in the northern countryside, an army unit wiped out a bomb-making factory and killed the terrorists inside.
Another army unit mowed down terrorists in al-Sheikh Hadid area in the northwestern countryside of Hama province, a military source said, announcing names of 8 identified terrorists among the dead.
Moreover, the army units obliterated hideouts for terrorists in Taldo town and in al-Rastan city and crushed a terrorist group in a qualitative operation in Jeb al-Jrah area in Homs province.
50 gunmen surrendered
In the same province [Homs], as many as 50 gunmen in towns of al-Zara and al-Hasrajeyeh reportedly turned themselves in to the competent authorities.
In southern Daraa province, engineering units defused 3 explosive devices (weighing 35kg/each) which were planted by terrorists, on the main road linking Qarfa town and Namer bridge outside Daraa province.
Five terrorists arrested
A source at Daraa governorate made it clear that the explosive devices were equipped with US-made detonators and camouflaged as basaltic rocks to be exploded by remote control.
Al-Qarfa town’s locals cooperated with the competent authorities to arrest 5 members from the terrorist group that planted the explosive device, the source said.
Suicide bombers kill 5 civilians
As for terrorist acts, it was reported that three suicide bombers blow themselves up inside “Hadaya” hotel in al-Wehde Street in al-Qamishli city killing 5 civilians and leaving 8 others wounded.
Other two civilians were martyred and 6 ones wounded when a shell-fired by terrorists- hit ‘Souq al-Hal’ in al-Zablatani area in the capital [Damascus].
Syria is fighting terrorism exported from around 83 countries.
The US, France, the UK, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Qatar sponsor the terrorist groups operating in Syria, world media reports say.
