Syrian Arab army eliminates 93 identified terrorists, destroys 5 arms dumps

PROVINCES,(ST)_Units of the armed forces continue tightening grip on foreign-backed terrorists in flashpoint areas in six provinces through cutting off supply lines to them and raiding hideouts and weapons there.

Today, the armed forces wiped out many terrorist groupings, some from the so-called ‘al-Fath’ brigade, during a series of operations in the areas of Barzeh, al-Qabon, Jobar, Erbin, and Duma to the north-east of the capital [Damascus].  

They also shelled a weapons-laden car in Jobar area- just 5km from Damascus- and a hideout containing weapons and ammunitions in Beit Sawa area, around 14km to the east of Damascus.

Other five cars loaded with weapons were destroyed in al-Bahhareyeh farms and near al-Nashabeyeh hospital in the eastern Ghouta amid reports of crushing at least 30 terrorists in Med’a area.

Further terrorists died when the armed forces targeted their groupings and hideouts in Darayya, al-Zabadany , and Yabrud areas where a chunk of weapons were also destroyed.

Moreover, the clash flared up between the armed forces and the armed terrorist groups in the west northern direction of Talita area, in al-Qalamon area, resulted in mowing down many terrorists.

An official source announced names of 6 terrorists killed there.

Ringleader from ‘Ahrar al-Sham’ killed  

Meanwhile, the official news agency reported that the armed forces eliminated many terrorists from al-Nusra front, including a ringleader, in Marj Khokha town in the northern countryside.

 Other 13 terrorists were hammered in towns of al-Qasatel, Marj al-Zawyeh and Saqyet al-Kart in the same are. A ringleader belonging to the so-called ‘Ahrar al-Sham’ was among the dead, according to a military source.

The source added that an army unit thwarted terrorists’ bid to sneak from al-Shmeseh town to Wata al-Khan town where three machine guns-equipped cars were destroyed. 

Failed attempts 

On the other hand, the armed forces foiled terrorists’ attempts to smuggle weapons to Der Ezzour province and to infiltrate from Lebanon into Homs province.

They, in addition, obliterated terrorists’ hideouts and groupings in quarters of al-Reshdeyeh, al-Sheikh Yassin and the old airport in Der Ezzour.

In this context, an official source said that an army unit killed 7 terrorists at al-Ma’amel square and destroyed 5 weapons-loaded cars for terrorists as they were trying to enter them to the city of Der Ezzour.

While in al-Sekhneh town, outside Palmyra, the armed forces seized RPGs, PKC guns and grenades and killed 12 terrorists.

Around 150 km to the west of Palmyra, precisely in Homs province, the armed forces clashed with terrorists in around 7 areas and wiped out terrorist groupings in quarters of al-Qarabis, al-Waer, al-Hamedeyeh, Wadi al-Sayeh and al-Qosor.

An unknown number of terrorists perished in the said areas and in military operations launched in more than 11 areas in Aleppo province.

Moreover, dozens of terrorists, including 6 of foreign nationals, died when an explosion took place inside an arms depot in al-Metras town near Tal Kalkh area. 

Big losses

In Idlib province, the armed forces pounded 5 arms caches in towns of Kamserfeh and destroyed 2 rocket launchers and 3 cars loaded with weaponry at Ein Laroz junction.

Well over 11 terrorists, some from al-Nusra Front, were identified among the dead in operations carried out in the said towns and in Near al-Mo’allaqa town in Jesr al-Shogour.

Rocket hits school

In a separate development, a terrorists attack took place in Homs city as a rocket –fired by terrorists- hit ‘Safeyat Om al-Mo’amenen’ School in al-Sabil quarter, killing two citizens.

The terrorists, according to an official source, fired rockets on citizens’ homes in quarters of Ekremah and Karm al-Shami . No casualties reported.
