PROVINCES,(ST)_On the ground, Units of the armed forces daily achieve back-to-back advances in fighting terrorism nationwide and restore stability and security to restive areas.
Today, the armed forces restored stability and security to three towns- Alseltaneyeh and western and eastern Salam- in Jeb al-Jrah countryside outside Homs province in the wake of vanquishing terrorists there.
A military source declared that a host of terrorists were eliminated and weapons- including rocket launcher and mortars- were destroyed in the said towns, noting that two mortars plus a 14.5mm caliber machine gun were seized there.
This fresh progress has raised the number of safe areas outside Homs up to 11 in a week regardless of the areas which were already cleansed of terrorists before September 11, 2013.
On the other hand, the armed forces raided terrorists’ hideouts and groupings in the quarters of Bab Hod and al-Qosor and in areas of al-Rastan, al-Dar al-Kabira, al-Khaledeyeh, al-Ghanto, al-Ghajar, Kesin, Talbeseh, Derfol, killing and injuring an unknown number of terrorists.
They also warded off terrorists’ bid to infiltrate into al-Dwir town, according to a military source.
2 snipers mowed down
Concerning developments in Damascus countryside, the official news agency (SANA) said that a 25 meter-long conduit was discovered near the building of TV Channel education in Barzeh suburb, just 3km to the north-east of Damascus.
It added that the armed forces mowed down two snipers in Jobar and Harasta suburbs and crushed a large number of terrorists in the farms stretching from Shebaa town to Der al-Asafir town and on the outskirts of Der Salman town in eastern Ghouta.
Other terrorists were hammered when the armed forces shelled hideouts in Alyeh farms in Doma and in Darayya, Zamalka, Hajjira, al-Dyabeyeh, and al-Zabadani’s eastern mountain.
77 terrorists killed
An official source announced names of 11 terrorists killed in the said areas, adding that two terrorists linked to al-Nusra front and a 30-gangster group were eliminated near Qareneh spring in Yabroud area, about 70km to the north-east of Damascus.
While in northern Aleppo province, the armed forces killed 20 terrorists in a clash to the north of ‘Khalid ibn al-Walid’ Mosque in Salaheddin quarter and destroyed several weapons-laden cars in the southestern countryside.
Dozens of terrorists, who were inside the cars, perished, a military source said.
More terrorists were hammered to the north of Saraqib area in Idlib province and in 9 areas in southern Daraa province.
Well over 16 identified terrorists, including foreign nationals (Saudi and Jordanian), were among the dead in Daraa province.
