Syrian Arab Army Conducts Series of Operations, Eliminates Terrorist Groups

PROVINCES,(ST)_A fresh series of accurate operations have been conducted against foreign-backed terrorists in several areas in northern, southern and central provinces of the country, the official news agency reports.

The operations, which were carried out on Friday by the army units, resulted in eliminating many of the armed terrorist groups and destroying a large chunk of their weapons.  They also came in sync with clashes which flared up in Damascus countryside, defusing explosive devices in Damascus and foiling terrorists’ infiltration bid from Lebanon into Syria.

In details, the army units wiped out an unknown number of terrorist groups in quarters of Joret al-Shayah, al-Qarabis and Bab Hod in Homs city and near the industrial school in al-Rastan city and pounded several terrorists hideouts in towns of al-Saen, Kesin, al-Rastan al-Tahtani, al-Zarai, Hawara and Wadi Zalil in central Homs province.

Explosive devices in trash container

They, in addition, thwarted terrorists’ infiltration bid from Lebanon into al-Qusair countryside and an attempt to detonate 5 explosive devices in Tal al-Qetri in Talbeseh and on the road leading to the national hospital in Taldo area in the same province [Homs].

Another bid to detonate 2 explosive devices put inside a trash container near Damascus Hospital in the capital [Damascus] was also foiled.

A police command source said that engineering units defused the explosive devices, which were found in the trash container, without damages.

Clashes

Outside Damascus province, the army units clashed with armed terrorist groups in several areas in Darayya city and in Jobar and Harasta areas and shelled many al-Nusra Front-linked terrorists’ hideouts in Rima farms in Yabroud area.

The death toll of terrorists in the said areas was not announced but many terrorists were killed in the said areas and near Ma’alola municipality.

More terrorists perished in an explosion of a car as they were booby trapping it inside a hideout in Wadi Bassemeh, around 23 km to the north-west of Damascus city. Terrorists of Libyan nationality were among the identified dead.

Strikes

Around 110 km to the south of Damascus, precisely in Daraa province, the army units struck several terrorist groupings in Daraa al-Balad, Beir al-Sabil, west of al-Harra and on the al-Sad road. Moreover, they destroyed a bulldozer- used by terrorists to dig trench and to create barriers on roads- near Othman town.

17 terrorists from ‘al-Tawhid’ brigade killed

As for developments in the northern Aleppo province, a military source told the official news agency that the army units warded off attacks on locals of Mahallet al-Sayyed Ali al al-Aazameyeh areas in the city of Aleppo where 17 terrorists from the so-called ‘al-Tawhid’ brigade were among the died.

More terrorists were reportedly killed in 9 quarters- al-Salehin, Karm Homed, al-Sekkari, al-Fardos, al-Shaar, al-Sakhour, Karm al-Mayser, al-Kallaseh and al-Sheikh Saed- in the same city [Aleppo].

While in Aleppo countryside, accurate and qualitative operations were launched against terrorists on the surrounding of the central prison and near the industrial city in al-Sheikh Najjar as well as in Hritan area. Several cars equipped with heavy machineguns were destroyed.

Attack on garrison

In Hama province, the army units warded off a terrorist group’s attack on a garrison to the north of Hama city. “All of the terrorist group’s members were mowed down,” a military source said.

The US, France, Britain, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Qatar sponsor the terrorist groups operating in Syria.

Syria is fighting terrorism exported from around 83 countries.
