PROVINCES,(ST)_Units of the armed forces have freed 15 passengers seized by terrorists on Homs-Palmyra road amid reports of wiping out many terrorist groupings outside Damascus, Homs, Aleppo, and Idlib provinces.
In details, the official news agency said today that the 15 passengers, who were inside a bus heading from Beirut to Manbej area in Aleppo province were freed by an army unit, noting that the passengers were abducted by terrorists to the east of Em al-Dababir town on Homs-Palmyra road.
It cited that the armed forces warded off terrorists’ attack on Kafr Nan town outside al-Rastan in central Homs province and wiped out terrorist groupings in al-Dar al-Kabira, Taldahab, al-Qarabis, and al-Warsheh areas, and on Palmyra-Homs road.
Trainer of terrorists
The agency confirmed the death of a terrorist trainer of Algerian nationality when the armed forces raided a grouping sheltering in al-Hesn town outside Tal Kalkh in Homs province.
Meanwhile, it was reported that a host of terrorists were eliminated and a chunk of weaponry was destroyed in a series of operations launched by the armed forces in around 16 areas in Aleppo province.
Clashes
More terrorists were mowed down in clashes between the armed forces and terrorist groups trying to sneak into safe areas in the quarters of Salaheddin, al-Sweqa and al-Zahrawi in the old city of Aleppo.
Another clash was raged in al-Sayyedeh Zainab area in southern Damascus countryside.
In another development, the armed forces shelled terrorists’ hideouts in 10 areas in the northwestern province of Idlib and in 9 areas outside Damascus province.
The death toll of terrorists in today’s operations was not reported.
Rankos explosion
In a separate incident, an explosion of a car bomb took place near Khaled bin al-Walid Mosque in Rankos town outside Damascus in the wake of a quarrel between terrorist groups over splitting weapons and munitions.
Locals said that the terrorists exploded the car as worshippers were exiting Friday prayer at the mosque.
Number of casualties was not reported.
