Syrian Arab Army and National Defense Forces Impose Control Over Strategic Observatory Hill in Lattakia Countryside

PROVINCES,(ST)_A strategic ridge overlooking Lattakia countryside has become under the control of the army units and national defense forces, a military source says.

The source was quoted on the official news agency as citing that the army units and national defense forces today imposed  full control over Point 45 [the military observatory 45 site in Kasab area], a strategic hill in northern countryside of Lattakia and pressed ahead with pursuing terrorist groups in the area.    

The agency added that 6 cars equipped with heavy machine guns for terrorists were destroyed by the army units and national defense forces on Nab’a al-Mer road, noting that terrorists inside the cars died.

While the state-run Syrian TV channel’s reporter confirmed the death of many terrorists that infiltrated from the Turkish territories- with logistic support from Turkish army- into Kasab area.

Strikes  

The fresh strategic gain coincided with striking terrorist groups in Salma town, Jabal al-Koz and in the surrounding of al-Samra town as well as to the west of al-Jabal al-Kaber, according to Alikhbaria Syria TV channel’s reporter.

There were also military operations against terrorist groupings in the western al-Mleha and al-Wardat area outside Daraa province and in more than 30 contested areas outside Idleb and Aleppo provinces.

A number of terrorists were killed in the operations when the army units foiled an armed terrorist group’s infiltration attempt from al-Ghasebeyeh town into al-Dwer town in central Homs province.

Smuggling tunnel in Duma

In another development, the army units targeted terrorist groupings on the outskirts of al-Sarkha town, to the south-west of Yabroud city, and in Adra al-Balad and discovered a 150-meter -long smuggling tunnel in Alya farms in Duma area outside Damascus province.

Sporadic clashes also erupted between the army units and armed terrorist groups to the east of Jobar quarter, around 5km to the east of the capital [Damascus].

29 gunmen surrendered

Meanwhile, it was reported that the competent authorities settled situations of about 48 gunmen from Ma’aloula and Jab’adin areas outside Damascus. The gunmen had turned themselves in to the competent authorities within national reconciliation efforts.

Last Wednesday, well over 29 gunmen from Yabroud, Jab’adin and al-Jebbeh surrendered  to the competent authorities, according to local media reports.

Act of vandalism

As for terrorist acts, the official agency said that the armed terrorist groups fired three missiles on al-Zara power station in Hama province.

“The terrorist attack caused damages to the second cooling tower”, a source at the station said, adding that the three generating units are still functioning despite the attack.

On February 16th, the terrorists targeted two high-voltage lines in the station plunging the province of Hama into darkness.

Syria is fighting terrorism exported from around 83 countries.

The US, France, the UK, Turkey, Israel, Saudi Arabia and Qatar sponsor the terrorist groups operating in Syria, world media reports say.
