Syrian Arab army advances north-east Duma city in Damascus countryside

PROVINCES,(ST)_Syrian army is reported to have made a swift advance into Duma city outside Damascus.

The army units in cooperation with popular defense forces regained today control of a large area in al-Rihan farms north-east Duma city in Damascus countryside ten days after they recaptured Adra al-Balad and al-Adra al-Jadedeh, tightening the grip on terrorists inside Duma.

The area recaptured today is of more than one square kilometer and includes several buildings and private factories used by terrorists as hideouts, a military source declared.

The latest advance coincided with airstrikes carried out by Syrian warplanes against terrorists’ sites in al-Zabadani in western countryside of Damascus.

In another development, Syrian army killed leader of the so-called the ‘Naser Sallaheddin’ brigade, Yousef Ibrahim, in Jasem town plus a field commander, dubbed al-Shishani, and many terrorists belonging to the ‘al-Mothanna’ battalion and the ‘Ahrar al-Sham’ in Daraa al-Balad in southern Daraa province.

More terrorists were eliminated when Syrian army targeted their hideouts in several areas in Daraa and Idlib and outside Hama and Aleppo, according to the official news agency (SANA).

As for the results of ongoing fighting in Ayn al-Arab city, the Beirut-based al-Mayadeen TV channel reported that the Kurdish people’s protection units expelled the ‘State of Iraq and the Levant’ organization [known as Daesh in Arabic and as IS or ISIS in foreign media reports] from the eastern quarters of the city.
