Syrian “Another Face for Killing” Wins Gold at Beirut Film Festival

DAMASCUS, (ST) – Syrian Film “Another Face for Killing” of Director Faisal Bin al-Marjeh has recently won the golden award of the feature films competition at the Beirut International Film Festival. The award was handed to al-Marjeh by Head of the Lebanese Film Makers Union and founder of the Festival Subhi Seifuddin.

Starring in the film, which was produced by the Syrian Educational Channel, are actors Jihad Saad, Shadi Zeidan, Najlaa al-Khamri, Lina Deyab, Ali Kreyyem, Faten Shaheen, mahmoud Bin al-Marjeh, Najwa Alwan, Muwaffak Bin Al- Marjeh.

“It is a great pride to me to win this prize as it gives me a push forward to achieve more important works.” the film’s director said in a statement to SANA.

He added “it adds more pride to me that I have won the golden prize not only for me but also for my country first. I present the prize to all the Syrians in general and to my teamwork and the Syrian cinema min particular,” Bin al-Marjeh.

He stressed that the festival witnessed strong competition between films produced by cinema-developed countries, but the Syrian cinema and drama have achieved strong presence in the event.

Bin al-Marjeh pointed out that the film depicts a sensitive medical topic dealing mainly with the issue of honor. It is new in terms of the idea and the way it is tackled. Its importance stems from the fact that it is purely educational and well studied to convey indirect messages addressing all social categories.
