Syrian and Russian Coordinating Bodies: Al-Rukban Camp Is Similar to Concentration Camps..It Should be Immediately Evacuated

Moscow- Syria and Russia, through the Syrian and Russian coordinating bodies concerned with the return of the displaced Syrians, demanded that the US occupation forces in the Al-Tanf area end the detention of displaced persons in Al-Rukban camp by allowing them to leave the camp and return to their areas liberated from terrorism.

In a joint statement, the two bodies called on the American side to “immediately evacuate the most suffering civilians – the sick, the elderly, women and children – as a first step and a sign of good will to make joint efforts by all parties to resolve the issue of the camp.”

The statement pointed out that the residents of the camp can’t return to their former places of residence because of the strong opposition by the US occupation forces at a time when the representatives of the United States are declaring “they do not prevent the exit of the displaced” in a clear state of disinformation and hypocrisy.

“The two coordinating bodies go to the civilized international community to raise international and internal issues to discuss the issues related to the disastrous situation of the Syrian citizens in the camp,” the statement added, calling on the American side to “engage in an immediate and rich dialogue to take concrete measures and decisions to forcibly rescue the detainees who are practically in a kind of concentration camps.’

Thousands of displaced Syrians, suffering from terror, in the Al- Rukban camp are living hard humanitarian conditions and suffering from a lack of health care and food shortages. The US occupation forces and their terrorist militias, located in Al-Tanf area, detain them and prevent them from leaving the camp through humanitarian corridors opened by the Syrian and Russian sides.

In cooperation with Russia, Syria opened two humanitarian corridors on 19 February in the towns of Jaleb and Jabal al-Ghorab on the outskirts of Al-Tanf area, but the US occupation forces prevented the arrival of transport vehicles on March 1 to the camp to transport the displaced persons wishing to leave.
