Syrian-Algerian talks to enhance cooperation in the field of mineral resources

On October 12th, the Minister of Oil and Mineral Resources, Eng. Bassam Tohme, discussed with the Algerian Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arqab, ways to enhance cooperation between Syria and Algeria in various fields, especially marine exploration and mineral wealth.

On the sidelines of the Russian Energy Week event, Tohma said: “Within the margins of this event, we had several meetings with the energy ministers of some friendly countries, the most important of which was with the Algerian Energy Minister, Mohamed Arqab, where we discussed how to enhance cooperation between our two countries.”

He added: “We discussed the issue of cooperation in land and maritime exploration according to the available opportunities, as well as cooperation in the field of phosphates and mineral wealth, and we agreed that a delegation from Syria will be invited to visit Algeria before the end of this year.”

On the prospects of cooperation with the Russian Ministry of Energy, Minister Tohme said: We have a meeting tomorrow with Russian Energy Minister Nikolai Schulganov, during which he will talk about the issues of cooperation between the two sides and follow the projects, especially the “road map” concluded for cooperation between us and the Russian side in energy projects.”
