Syrian agricultural talks with the Donetsk People’s Republic

The Minister of Agriculture, Engineer Mohamed Hassan Qatana, discussed with the head of the delegation of the Donetsk People’s Republic and Minister of Foreign Affairs Natalia Nikonovna, the development of cooperation and the exchange of agricultural products between the two countries.

In a statement to reporters, the Minister of Agriculture said that foundations were laid for boosting economic and agricultural cooperation between the two countries, exchanging agricultural products and production requirements by barter or direct purchase, and setting the initial foundations for signing scientific, cultural and commercial exchange agreements.

Qatana pointed out that there are many agricultural products that can be exported from Syria to Donetsk, such as olive oil, citrus fruits, vegetables and fruits, and large quantities of locally manufactured food products.

The head of the delegation of the Donetsk People’s Republic described the talks as fruitful, noting that the meeting discussed ways to pay for products and the needs of both countries and the means of transport that will be adopted to transport goods.

Nikonovna indicated that the two sides agreed to hold an upcoming meeting via video technology in the beginning of next November to continue developing solutions and overcoming all difficulties that might impede the flow of products between the two countries.

The Minister of Agriculture of the Donetsk Republic, Artom Kramarenko, stated that views were exchanged on the agricultural map in both countries and plans in the field of agricultural cooperation, identifying all needs, and setting a map for the exchange of agricultural commodities and products, in addition to setting precise dates for completing what was agreed upon.
