Syriac Patriarchate, UNDP launch initiative on the occasion of International Peace Day

On the occasion of the International Day of Peace, the choir of the Patriarchate of Saint Ephrem the Syrian in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) launched Friday an initiative called “Love gathers us together”.

The initiative was launched during a concert performed by the ‘Adonia’ music band where traditional and popular songs representing the Syrian folklore and peace were sung.

It includes the first peace art competition for youths aged between 16 and 30 years, according to the Director of the initiative Mr.Shadi Sarweh, who clarified that applications for the competition will be submitted through the Facebook page of the choir starting from October 1st.

On his part, the Patriarchal Vicar in the East of the United States for the Patriarchate of Antioch and All the East for the Syriac Orthodox Church Bishop Jan Qwaq said during the ceremony held two days ago: ” We are the sons of life and we will export peace to all”.

He referred to the heroism of the Syrian army and those who supports it for the restoration of peace and stability to Syria.

Since 2011, a foreign-backed terror war has been waged on Syria targeting its people, army, civilization and infrastructures in accordance with the US-Zionist plot that aims to fragment the region and to have hegemony over its wealth.

About 360.000 foreign terrorists from 93 countries came to fight against the Syrians from April 2011 till January 2016, according to the German Firil Center for Studies. While media reports have confirmed that Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Jordan, the U.S., France, Britain and Israel support – by all means-terrorist organizations operating in Syria.
