Syria, WIPO sign agreement on establishing technology and innovation support centers in Syria

A cooperation agreement was signed on Friday between Syria and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) on establishing centers for supporting technology and innovation in Syria.

The agreement was signed by Syria’s Permanent Representative to the UN Office and other International Organizations in Geneva Hussam Eddin Ala and by WIPO Director General Daren Tang.

“Establishing innovation and technology support centers in Syria would upgrade the level of services provided to researchers, inventors and innovators,” said Ala, stressing Syria’s support for the country’s inventors through its keenness on annually holding the Al-Basel Exhibition for Creativity and Invention.

He thanked WIPO’s Director General for the organization’s continued support for strengthening the structure of intellectual property in Syria.

On his part, Tang said he is happy for signing this cooperation agreement, as it indicates the fruitful cooperation between the two sides. He affirmed the organization’s keenness on deepening and expanding this cooperation to include other key domains.
