Damascus, (ST) – The students of the Syrian Scientific Olympiad won silver and bronze medals in the (INFO CUP 2022) International Informatics Championship that was organized online by Romania on February 12-13 with the participation of 164 male and female students from 14 countries distributed into 41 teams .
The Distinction and Creativity Commission said in a statement, which Syrian News Agency (SANA) received a copy of it on Sunday that, the silver medal was won by a member of the Syrian Scientific Olympiad in Informatics team, Amin Abdul Karim Sherba, from the first secondary grade at “Al-Basel School for Outstanding Students” in Damascus, while the Bronze one was got by team member Ahmed Akram Tohme, from the second year of secondary school at the Secondary School of Outstanding Students in Homs.
The Commission indicated that the four students who represented the Syrian Scientific Olympiad in this special tournament for students aged 16 and under it achieved clear progress in the level of their performance and grades compared to the previous Syrian participation in this tournament.
This tournament marks the beginning of the Syrian Scientific Olympiad’s international participation for 2022. It provides an important opportunity for the promising talents in the Olympiad’s Informatics team to compete in programming and enhance their skills. It included two rounds of four hours each.
