Syria wins gold, silver and bronze medals in the finals of the International Informatics Camp in Russia

DAMASCUS- The Syrian Science Olympiad team, participating in the finals of the informatics camp recently organized by the Russian International School of Informatics “Junior” (ISIJ), has won gold, silver and bronze medals and ranked second in the competition.

Students from Russia, China, Britain, Belgium, New Zealand, Azerbaijan, Tunisia, and Syria took part in the competition which was held online between July 1st and 11th. The activities were conducted  in English and they included daily exercises and contests in addition to the final competition.

According to the Distinction and Creativity Agency, the gold medals went to grade 10 students: Hazem al-Dalati from al-Bassel School for Excelled Students in Homs and Mohammad Wael Sultan from al-Bassel School for Excelled Students in Aleppo.

 The silver medals were won by grade 10 students Mohammad Mufeed Mehemlat from Al-Bassel School for Excelled Students in Aleppo, Ibraham Jamil from the Syrian School in Aleppo, Baraa Haddad from Jareer School in Aleppo and Antoine Dabbous from Hilmi Abdul-Nour School in Homs, in addition to grade 11 student Amin Sharba from Dahiyat al-Firdaus School in Damascus.

While the bronze medals went to grade 9 students Ammar Alfin from al-Bassel School for Excelled Students in Homs and Hussein Busbeit from al-Bassel School for Excelled Students in Damascus.

 The Syrian Science Olympiad Informatics team, which comprises 12 students and 5 trainers, also ranked second after China in the overall result of the camp’s competitions.
