NAJAF, IRAQ- The Syrian media has attained a new achievement by winning five top awards at the 7th Al-Ghadeer Media International Festival which concluded yesterday in the Iraqi city of Najaf.
204 media institutions representing Arab and Islamic countries took part in the three-day event in which the Syrian radio and TV stations competed with their counterparts from other countries and managed to win a number of outstanding awards.
The prize of best specialized TV report went to the Syrian Satellite Channel’s documentary “From the Field”, which depicts the achievements of the Syrian Arab army in its battle against terrorism. The report is prepared by a group of war correspondents at the news center.

In the Radio contest, Damascus Radio won two awards; best children program by Director Hamdi Shweiki and best talk show by Director Hassan Hinnawi, while the best political news bulletin award went to Sawt al-Sha’b (Voice of People) Radio.
In addition, the Jury granted their special award to director Hassan Hannawi for his “Analytic Mind” talk show.
A number of certificates of appreciation were also granted to the General Establishment of Radio and TV, namely the Syrian Satellite Channel, Channel One, al-Shabab (Youth) Radio, Damascus Radio and the Voice of the People Radio.
The Syrian participation in the festival captured the attention and enjoyed the admiration of other participating delegations who hailed the Syrian remarkable and effective contribution to the festival’s activities, thus reflecting the determination of the Syrian people to defeat the terrorist and takfiri campaign which has aimed to destroy life, aesthetical values, art and invention not only in Syria but in the entire Arab and Islamic homeland.

The Festival’s Director Mudar al-Bakkaa described the Syrian participation as a courageous step indicating the Syrian media’s determination to overcome all difficulties and convey its message to all parts of the world that it rejects any war against the will and options of the Syrian people.
Bakkaa pointed out that the Syrian media’s participation in the event was a precious opportunity to all participants to benefit from its leading experience.
Mohammad Al-Hansheer, leader of the Tunisian delegation, welcomed the participation of the Syrian media, stressing that his contacts with the Syrian delegation perpetuated the image he had got about the steadfastness of the Syrian people, army and media in the confrontation of the global war hatched against Syria.
