Syria wins Bronze medal in Asian Jiu-Jitsu Martial Arts Championship

Syrian martial arts national team player Sham Al-Mawardi won the bronze medal in the Asian Jiu-Jitsu Championship, currently being held in the Emirati capital Abu Dhabi, which witnessed the participation of 1,500 male and female players representing 33 Asian countries.
The bronze came in the 63 kg competition for the 16-year-old category.
The Syrian martial arts team player, Marwa Al-Shalabi, won the silver medal in the women’s competition.
President of the Martial Arts Federation, Adnan Al-Masry, noted that the tournament witnessed strong competitions amid an enthusiastic atmosphere, and what the team’s players achieved is an important achievement for Syrian sports, in the light of the wide participation of many developed countries in this game on the Asian level. These results came after great preparations and efforts made by the technical and administrative staff with the male and female players during the training camp that was held in Damascus before the tournament.
Hazem Ramadan, head of the game’s technical committee and the national team’s coach, said that the tournament witnessed a high organizational level, adding: The competitions in the tournament were strong and the technical level was very high with the participation of strong teams.
Ramadan pointed out that the tournament included an arbitration session to review the most important amendments to the Law of the Game in the International Federation.
Adnan Al-Masry, and the Federation’s member, Thaer Sheikh Hussein, also presented the shield of the Syrian Olympic Committee to the President of the Asian Jiu-Jitsu Federation, Abdel Moneim Al-Sayyid Muhammad Al-Hashemi, in appreciation of the Asian Federation’s support for the national team’s participation in the Asian Championship.
The Syrian team’s delegation to the tournament includes Adnan Al-Masry as president, Thaer Al-Hussein as administrator, Hazem Ramadan as coach, and male and female players Sham Al-Mawardi, Marwa Al-Shalabi, Sameh Ramadan and Tambi Omar.
