The Syrian Science Olympiad team has won a bronze medal in the Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad (APIO) 2021 which was organized online by Indonesia from May 22nd to May 24th.
33 Syrian students from the provinces of Lattakia, Aleppo, Damascus Homs and Tartous took part in a 5-hour contest during which they solved high level software problems. As a result, Bernar George Ibrahimsha, a high school student from Aleppo, won the bronze medal.
845 students representing 35 countries took part in the contests of the Olympiad, according to Syrian Distinction and Creativity Agency.
This is the Syrian Science Olympiad teams’ 13th participation in APIO in which strong countries in the field of informatics take part, such as Japan, China, Russia and Iran, the agency said.
