Syria wins a bronze medal in its first participation in the European Girls’ Mathematical Olympiad

The Syrian Scientific Olympiad team participating in the European Girls’ Mathematical Olympiad (EGMO), organized online by Hungary between April 8th and 9th , won a bronze medal and a certificate of appreciation.

According to the Distinction and Creativity Agency, Mary Seif Askar, a student from the Syrian city of Tartous won the medal, while Bana Fadel from Aleppo got the certificate of appreciation.

“The result is a new international achievement for the Syrian Scientific Olympiad,” the agency added, pointing out that this competition is the 11th version of the EGMO in which 56 countries took part.

 The agency clarified that this is the first time the Syrian team joins the EGMO.

 The competitions included two rounds of tests, each of which lasted for four hours and a half.
