BRUSSELS, (ST)-Melkite Greek Catholic Patriarch of Antioch and All the East Gregorios III Laham, has stressed that Syria will continue to be a unique example of diversity and tolerance.
Patriarch Lahham, who is visiting Brussels leading a delegation of clergymen to meet European Union members on Thursday, said that the ongoing terrorist war against Syria “won’t be able to undermine the historical cohesive social fiber that brings the Syrians together,” adding that “religious freedom is a positive reality in Syria.”
The patriarch called for saving Syria’s children from the terrorism they have been exposed to for almost six years.
He stressed the need that European leaders support the church’s role in contributing to restoring peace, stability and security to Syria. He urged the European union officials who visit Lebanon to dedicate part of their visit program to meeting Syrian Church representatives.
