DAMASCUS, (ST)- Syria has welcomed the results of the summit meeting between President Kim Jong Un of the Democratic Peoples’ Republic of Korea ( DPRK) and President Moon Jae-in of South Korea that took place on April 27th, 2018.
An official source at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates told SANA on Monday that the Syrian Arab Republic has followed up with great interest the summit meeting between the two presidents in the area of the Military Demarcation Line that divides the two neighboring nations in Panmunjom.
“Starting from its keenness on the security and stability of the Korean Peninsula, Syria welcomes the summit’s declaration that contributes to improving ties and cooperation between the two Koreas to serve establishing international peace and security,” the source, said.
The source added that Syria also supports all steps that lead to ratifying a peace agreement that enhance confidence and achieve the aspirations of the Korean people in both countries.
Leader of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) [North Korea]Kim Jong Un and the South’s President Moon Jae-in signed a joint declaration agreeing to work for the “complete denuclearization of the Korean peninsula” following their historic summit on Friday.
They further stated that they would seek an agreement to establish “permanent” and “solid” peace on the Korean peninsula.
