Syria Welcomes Any Honest, Unbiased Fact-Finding Committee to Investigate Alleged Chemical Attack in Khan Sheikhoun

MOSCOW, (ST)- Syria welcomes any “honest and unbiased” fact-finding committee aiming to investigate the alleged chemical attack in Khan Sheikhoun in Idleb countryside, Speaker of the People’s Assembly Hadiya Abbas has stressed.

During a forum organized by Valdai International Dialogue Club in Moscow, Abbas said the United States is the party that supports terrorist organizations in Syria, noting the former US State Secretary Hillary Clinton’s acknowledgement that the United States has created Daesh terror organization and have been a constant sponsor of terrorist organizations in Syria.

According to Abbas, successive US administrations say something during their electoral campaigns and do different thing when they become in power. She referred in this regard to US President Donald Trump’s statements during his election campaign in which he announced his will to eliminate Daesh and said that Syria’s future is decided by the Syrian people themselves, but after he became in power, he fabricated the chemical weapon play in Khan Sheikhoun as a pretext to carry out aggression on Syria, although all know that Syria has given up its chemical weapons and it is now has none of them.

On the other hand, Abbas stressed that the Syrian government is open to dialogue with the “opposition” in order to solve the crisis in Syria, but the “opposition” has intended to “implement regional and international agendas aiming to seize power in the country not to stop the war and end the Syrian people’s suffering. In addition, Abbas added, the US schemes keep hindering settlement in Syria to serve the Israeli occupation and turn the region into fragmented entities.

The PA Speaker asserted that “Syria is the cradle of civilizations and heavenly religions. It hasn’t suffered intractable problems before the crisis and it started making reforms that embody the people’s aspirations.”

Abbas pointed out that all know that President Bashar Al-Assad is the guarantor of the future of the Syrian people.”
