DAMASCUS, Aug.8, (ST)- Today, the Minister of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, Mohammed Hassan Qatana, discussed with the Director General of the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD), Ibrahim al-Dukhairi, and WFP Representative and Country Director in Syria Kenn Crossley, the prospects of cooperation and supporting farmers and agricultural sector in general in the country.
During the meeting, which was held at WFP office in Damascus, Qatana attached great importance to the cooperation and networking among the organizations operating in Syria to carry out development and early recovery projects as well as achieving integration and sustainability.
For his part, Al-Dukhairi, hailed the cooperation and the MOU been inked between WFP and AOAD, stressing the importance of the continuous coordination especially in the domain of early recovery and livelihood support, with the need for expanding the agricultural activities.
In the same context, Crossley talked about the substantial consensus between WFP strategy and the Sustainable Agricultural Development Strategy Towards 2030 along with their priorities, the issue that encourages all parties to be within one path and goal, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).
Crossley asserted the WFP’s readiness to cooperate with AOAD for carrying out the development projects in Syria especially after the MOU signed in Cairo.
