Syria Voices Solidarity with China against US Senate Bill on Human Rights and Democracy in Hong Kong
DAMASCUS, (ST)- Syria has vehemently condemned the bill approved by the US Senate Foreign Affairs Committee on human rights and democracy in Hong Kong.
The bill supports what it called “Hong Kong’s freedom and democracy”.
An official source at the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said in a statement to SANA on Monday that the decision is a blatant violation of China’s internal Affairs and it contradicts what is really going on the ground in Hong Kong. The source added that the decision ignores the fact that the unrest in this Chinese region has been caused by some US-run and backed radical forces aiming at creating chaos in China, defaming the country, hindering China’s increasing development and undermining Beijing’s key role in the international arena.
The source went on to say that Syria voices its complete solidarity with the People’s Republic of China and stresses its firm support for the One China Principle.
Syria also calls on foreign parties to respect China’s sovereignty, stop interfering in its internal affairs and realize that the world has changed and the unilateral system has started to vanish and that the establishment of a new world order, which respects the sovereignty of all countries and the right of all peoples to enjoy security and welfare, is the only way to achieve international security and stability in the world.
Over the past few months, Hong Kong has been facing a wave of violent demonstrations which Beijing views as being the result of foreign interference in China’s domestic affairs.
