Syria: US Veto against UNSC Resolution on al-Quds Disrespects International Laws

DAMASCUS, (ST)- Syria has strongly condemned the US veto against a Security Council Resolution rejecting US President Donald Trump’s decision to recognize al-Quds as Israel’s capital.

An official source at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates told SANA on Tuesday that “Syria strongly condemns the US Veto at the Security Council against a resolution on al-Quds and affirms that such an American stance confirms Washington’s disrespect of international laws and flagrantly violate all Security Council resolutions regarding the legal status of this Palestinian city.

By adopting such a stance, the United States gives no heed to international legitimacy and violates international resolutions as it used to do with different issues that have to do with disturbing international peace and security and with creating tension in the region in order to impose its hegemony, said the source, adding that such behavior stresses, now more than any time ever, the need to establish a new world order as to put a end to the arrogant and reckless policies of the successive US administrations.

The source asserted that by vetoing the resolution on al-Quds, the United States further proves it limitless support for the Zionist racist expansionist entity and confirms its enmity to the Arab nation, a matter that requires from the Arab regimes, which are subordinate to the American policies, to adopt the proper stance that expresses people’s aspirations, embodies the higher interests of the Arab nation and maintains Arab rights and sanctities, and to stop being a tool for implementing anti-Arab policies.
