Syria Urges UN, UNSC to Condemn Terrorists’ New Massacre in Aleppo

DAMASCUS, (ST)-Syria, in two identical letters on Tuesday, urged the United Nations and the Security Council to condemn the heinous crime committed on Monday by the armed terrorist organizations against the innocent people of Aleppo.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said “the armed terrorist organizations which are called by their supporters as [Moderate opposition] committed a new horrible massacre by firing more than 100 rockets against civilians in several quarters in Aleppo aiming to terrorize the locals and kill as much people as possible. The attacks claimed the lives of 36 civilians including 12 children and wounded 120 people most of them were children and women. The rocket attacks caused huge damage to the buildings and to the public and private properties in the targeted areas.”

The ministry clarified that the new massacre comes within the framework of the systematic terrorist attacks which have been targeting Syria for more than four years. “It aims to take revenge from the people of Aleppo because of their steadfastness in the face of terrorism and the takfiri terrorist organizations and because of their adherence to their land and resistance of the takfiri mentality,” the ministry said.

“Not only the so-called moderate armed opposition should be held responsible for the new massacre, but also the regimes of Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Qatar, Jordan and Israel which keep supporting, financing and training the terrorists and sending them to Syria  and which also ignore the resolutions of the Security  Council which call for combating terrorism,” the ministry added.

The ministry urged the international community to be united as to cooperate and coordinate with the Syrian government which has been fighting terrorism on behalf of the entire world for years in defense of humanity and the values of justice and freedom.

According to the Ministry, the Syrian government, which will press ahead with fighting terrorism in accordance with its constitutional responsibilities in protecting the Syrian people, calls on the United Nations and the Security Council to condemn the new massacre in Aleppo, stop the double standard policy and adopt deterrent measures against the armed terrorist organizations and against the countries which support and sponsors terrorism.
