Syria Urges UN, UNSC to Condemn Terrorist Blasts in Hasaka Neighborhoods, Affirm Commitment to Combating Terrorism
DAMASCUS, (ST)- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates has called on the Security Council and the United Nations to condemn the terrorist bombings which took place yesterday in the Syrian province of Hasaka and urged them to commit themselves to the issue of fighting terrorism and prosecuting the terrorist extremist organizations through enhancing cooperation and coordination with the Syrian government.
Two suicide bombers, at the rush hours on Monday, blow their car bombs up in the neighborhoods of Khashman and al-Mahatta, killing more than 20 civilians and wounding at least 100 people most of them were women and children. The explosions caused heavy material damage to public and private properties and destroyed three housing buildings, the ministry in two identical letters addressing the UN and the Security Council.
“This bloody terrorist crime, which coincides with the beginning of the new academic year and the enrollment of about four million students in their schools in Syria, comes to continue the series of the systematic terrorist crimes perpetrated by the terrorist organizations like “ISIL” or (Deash in Arabic), al-“Nousra Front”, “Jeish al-Islam” to terrorize civilians and paralyze their life and movement,” the ministry said, adding that it also comes as a response to the gains achieved by the Syrian Arab Army and the defeat of ISIL in the city of Hasaka.
“The Syrian government affirms that these terrorist acts wouldn’t have happen without the continuous direct support provided to these foreign-backed terrorist organizations by countries like Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar and without the failure to take deterrent measures against the countries supporting and funding terrorism,” the ministry added.
“The Security Council is demanded today to stress its commitment to combating terrorism and prosecuting the extremist terrorist organizations through consolidating cooperation and coordination with the Syrian government which have dedicated its efforts, on behalf of all peoples of the world, to defend human values and maintain international peace and security,” the ministry asserted.
It clarified that “the Syrian government, which reiterates its readiness and determination to combat terrorism and do its constitutional duty in defending and protecting the Syrian people, again urges the Security Council and the UN chief to condemn the terrorists’ criminal acts in Hasaka and to shoulder their responsibility in uprooting terrorism, drying up terrorism resources and halting its funding through implementing the relevant Security Council resolutions particularly Nos. 2170, 2178 and 2199.”
